Nature Photography Meetup

Saturday 21 December
Downtown Lafayette - 10am - 2 Hours
Lafayette Photography Group
Mallory Stanford
Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture nature in a visually interesting way. We will be looking at composition, focus, and colour.

Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, and a single dew drop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. We will learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make subjects pop.

Title or Location: My New Orleans
I painted this for my grandson for his bedroom several years ago. His father was raised in New Orleans and they spend a lot of time there to visit with his grandfather. The painting was only buildings. The street corner was created by putting together a couple of areas of New Orleans and using colors my grandson needed for his room. This is a created area, there is no area in New Orleans that looks like this, hence the name ?My New Orleans?. As he left home he gave the painting back because h

Title or Location: Arches National Park in Utah.
So much to grab your attention and inspire at this national park. This particular scene offered everything that I love about desert landscapes. Beautiful colours and interesting rock shapes and textures. The distant views through the arch as it caught the low sun offered a challenge which always makes painting more enjoyable.

Title or Location: The Big Stage
This painting hung on my wall for about two years and was originally just the little girl with glasses, but I knew it just wasn't working. About two months ago, inspired by a Degas ballerina painting, I decided to rework, adding more young girls and the hint of an audience in the foreground. I am much happier with it now, but maybe that's because the little girl with glasses is my granddaughter. &129392

Title or Location: Mini Floral Paintings
The story behind these mini floral panties came from a tutorial where the artist was making party favors for a wedding and I thought this would be a nice gift idea or especially for parties or even putting up in your office cubicle

Title or Location: Across the Marsh
This Art was painted mostly 'plein aire' and finished in the studio from photo. I was standing on a small bridge that a local farmer had built over the drainage from the marsh. Oil on board and framed in attractive 'floating art' style frame.
