Composition in the Park

Composition in the Park

Saturday 11 July
S College Road - 10am - 2 Hours
Lafayette Photography Group
Mallory Stanford
Come and join us as we explore composition in photography.

Composition is one of the most critical element in photography. Composition is how a photographer arranges the visual elements within their image, frame. I promise you that if you search for information on composition you will find plenty You will find formal rules, opinion, some of which you can trace back to historical art movements and painters.

Even in the digital world, composition remains the key to creating strong images. Composition is what guides our eye through an image and gives importance to the subject. It creates the story for the viewer and how we as photographers convey that message.

This meetup will explore composition using our frame and tools available to us as the photographer.

This was my first in person art class - and I am a true beginner- so I was pretty nervous going in. Ciara was very sweet and set a good tone for the meeting. I very much enjoyed the class and the conversation with other students.

The working class needs to understand that they need to take their power back. These apps/phones are designed to lobotomize Your children, condition them? no addict them so they can?t do without it, and carry the surveillance device around with them.North Koreans will never rebel. There is a reason meaningful art that resonates with the human condition has been taken away from them. They never seen the movie that taught them that they could. Such a thing doesn?t exist in there mindA

I did not always follow the path of creativity. Growing up, I was told to choose the safer route, so I chose science. I used to be a Medical Laboratory Technician, and got to learn so many things about the human body, and meet many great people. But I always noticed something that I kept going back to, and that was the curiosity and yearning to create something. I would either draw, or do origami when a sticky note was nearby. Something kept getting my attention deep within to keep going. Next t

Title or Location: For the Boys
I collect and collage anything from the 1950s and 1960s. I used an old wooden box after removing the lid . . . as the room for this scene. There are ladybugs in the back, then a bride, a young boy, and then I added a tennis player (cake topper), hair pin, toilet, mouse, fence, and a plastic cabinet from a dollhouse. For extra measure, I added a cabinet handle to the top of the box. I am asking the viewer to make sense of this combination.

Title or Location: Gromit in heaven
Gromit was a ?foster fail? who helped many other foster dogs on their way to a new life. He demonstrated life could be kind and to try and trust again. His favorite play dates were at Union Reservoir, retrieving tennis balls in the water. The day before Memorial Day in 2018, he started fading fast, a rush to the emergency vet showed the cause, cancer on his heart. He died just after midnight, so it would be impossible for me to forget him. He was 4years old.
